A Small-Town Bakery
Situated in bustling Georgetown, Furin's bakery has a small-town, homey feel. A few wooden tables are in the front window, and there's outdoor seating if you want to watch the foot traffic saunter past. In the other front window, cakes are decked out to look like birthday gifts, sculpted high with icing bows.
Walking past those windows takes an impressive amount of self-control, but Furin's isn't just about dessert. You will be drawn towards the homemade Danishes right off the bat, but don't miss out on sandwiches like Le Parisienne, a flaky croissant stuffed with homemade chicken salad, or the San Franciscan, which inexplicably is Virginian baked ham and honey mustard on crusty fresh sourdough. Saving room will be tough, but the coconut cupcake beckons, a veritable Stepford wife creation of fluffy yellow cake piled high with coconut-sprinkled white icing.
