A Simple Flag Cake
A 4th of July party must be, if nothing else, patriotic. American flags are not only raised on this holiday, they are applied to everything as a way to show our undying devotion to this country. This, of course, also applies to food.
Apple pie may be the most American dish you can think of, but when it comes to the 4th of July, a flag cake should be your dessert of choice. Not only is it patriotic, it's light, fluffy, and a sweetly refreshing dessert for the summer sun. The best part is that this cake is super easy and extremely customizable to your taste preferences.
What You'll Need:
- 1 cup blueberries
- 1 cup strawberries
- 1 cup raspberries
- 1 sheet cake
- 16-ounce jar of white frosting
- To get the look of a typical flag cake, coat your sheet cake with your white frosting of choice.
- Slice strawberries thinly and vertically to get flat, even, heart-shaped slices.
- Place blueberries in the corner for stars and lay out strawberries to look like stripes.
And there you have it: a patriotic cake that you can be almost as proud of as you are of our country.
