"Our children attend the local oncology centers in order to receive state of the art treatment for forms of cancer that they can't receive in their home towns or their home countries," Cherilyn Frei, Director of Family Support Service, told 1010WINS. "To come home to a warm dog wagging their tail, is a little sense of normalcy to this family and a great sense of relief and makes them feel more like the routine they left behind".

Frei says being so close to Gracie Mansion, they're hoping Mayor Bill de Blasio will come out and wave to the walkers.

Other activities will include raffle prizes and a contest for best dressed dog.
