In 2012 we broke the news that Roger Federer had been named as Moët & Chandon’s new brand ambassador. On March 19, Federer (who is favored to win the Sony Open currently in full swing), hosted a mini tennis match for the famed French Champagne house at the eye-popping 50th floor rooftop lounge of the Viceroy Miami.
Dubbed the “Tiny Tennis” event, the scaled-down version of the game was perfect for the Viceroy’s FIFTY Miami, one of the city’s poshest watering holes. Competitors including Juan Pablo Galvis of ABC's The Bachelor, Giovani Bernard of the Cincinnati Bengals, Jon Beason of the NY Giants and Tracy Wilson Mourning played on the pint-sized court alongside some sexy Moët ball girls for the chance to win an much-coveted jeroboam of Moët & Chandon.
This exclusive event served as a kickoff for the Sony Open and celebrated Moët’s strong commitment to the world of tennis. For the first time, Moët is the Official Champagne for the Sony Open. It also sponsors other high profile tennis events around the world. Bernard ultimately snagged the prize and also got to play a round with Federer himself who acted as judge for the tournament. Federer told the assembled swells he of course hopes to win the Miami Open, part of the Masters 1000 category on the 2014 ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) World Tour, but said it was too early to tell who he might have to play in the finals set to take place March 30. Federer is considered by many to be the world’s best tennis player, is one of the world’s richest athletes.
