You no longer have to wait for the state fair to get your deep-fried candy bar fix. Blogger Amy Erickson of Oh Bite It! delivers an indulgent snack, perfect for kids’ parties and cookouts. For an extra kick of chocolate, dust the fried candy bars with unsweetened cocoa powder.
- 1 16.3-ounce can refrigerated biscuits, such as Pillsbury™ Grands!™ Flaky Layers original or buttermilk biscuits
- 8 assorted candy bars
- Canola oil, for frying
- 8 craft sticks (flat wooden sticks with round ends)
- Powdered sugar
Separate the dough into 8 biscuits. Roll out each with rolling pin or press with your hands until large enough to wrap around a candy bar.
Place 1 candy bar in center of each biscuit. Wrap the dough around to completely cover the candy bar, then pinch to seal thoroughly. Repeat for the remaining candy bars.
In a 10- to 12-inch skillet, heat the oil to 350 degrees F. Fry each wrapped candy bar until golden brown on all sides. Remove from the oil to a cooling rack and cool. Insert 1 craft stick halfway into each candy bar. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
