Peppermint Mocha Latte Recipe

A peppermint mocha latte is just a minty hot chocolate with the addition of espresso. You can get fancy and garnish with candy canes and the like, but this tastes just fine without all that fuss. Make it even easier on yourself by using a mint-flavored hot chocolate instead of trying to get the peppermint extract/cocoa ratio right.

Ingredients

  • 1 packet or 3 tablespoons of mint-flavored dark hot chocolate
  • 1 Cup milk
  • 1-2 shots of espresso

Directions

Over medium heat, brew hot chocolate using milk instead of water. Once mixed, add the hot coffee.  Pour into a mug and garnish with whipped cream if desired. If you want this extra minty, add a drop of peppermint extract.

Peppermint Shopping Tip

If you're looking for a smoother texture in your finished product, try using confectioners' sugar (also known as 10x sugar) instead of granulated sugar.

Peppermint Cooking Tip

Think beyond cakes and pies – fruits like peaches, pineapple, and figs are excellent grilled – brush with melted butter or wine and sprinkle with sugar and spices for a dessert that you can feel good about.
