Ingredients

  • 3 Cups regular grits (not the quick variety)
  • 12 Cups water
  • 2 Cups heavy whipping cream
  • 2 Cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 3 Tablespoons or four tablespoons butter
  • 6 Teaspoons salt

Directions

Soften the butter.

Combine all ingredients except the shredded cheese.

Cook on low in the crock pot for 6 to 8 hours, stirring occasionally.

About 15 to 30 minutes before serving, stir in shredded cheese. Enjoy!

Cheesy Shopping Tip

If a piece of cheese smells strongly of ammonia, don't buy it. This is typically a sign of spoilage.

Cheesy Cooking Tip

Allow cheese to come to room temperature before serving. This will accentuate the flavors and aromas.
