Chile-Spiced Mashed Sweet Potatoes
You don't need those little marshmallows for Thanksgiving or any other time of year. Instead, deploy fresh orange juice, a little orange zest, and some chili powder to give sweet potatoes zing.

Ingredients
- 4 large sweet potatoes (3 1/2 pounds total)
- 2 teaspoon grated orange zest
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 2 tablespoon light brown sugar
- 2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
- Bake the sweet potatoes until they are soft, about 1 hour, 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the orange zest, orange juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, chili powder, and salt. Scoop the sweet potato flesh into a large bowl. Pour in the orange juice mixture and mash well.
