Campfire Pancakes



Prepare your dry pancake ingredients in advance in a jar, pour in the wet ones, shake it up, and cook in a skillet over the campfire.

  • 1 Cup self-rising flour
  • 1 Teaspoon salt
  • 1 Teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 Teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tablespoon butter, melted over the campfire, plus more for the pan
  • 1 Cup milk


Fill a sealable jar with the flour, salt, baking, powder, and cinnamon.

Heat a cast iron skillet over the campfire.

Crack the egg into the jar, and pour in the butter and milk. Seal the jar and shake it vigorously until you have a thick, smooth batter.

 Add some butter to the skillet. Pour in the pancake batter and cook for a couple of minutes on each side, until golden and cooked through. Repeat with the remaining batter. Top with maple syrup, bacon, or fruit, and serve immediately.
