Porsche Design & Blackberry Collaborate On A New Phone That Will Make You Look Extra Special
Not to be outdone by the slew of Apple announcements this month, BlackBerry teamed up with Porsche Design to create the new, sleek and stylish P'9983. Like the exclusivity involved with owning a luxury car, the Porsche Design BlackBerry comes with several special features to set owners apart from other BlackBerry users.
So, what makes this phone special? Well, P'9983 owners get a special Porsche Design BlackBerry PIN ID—2AAXXXXX. If you're anything like us (an office full of iPhones and the ocassional Samsung Galaxy), you will have no idea what that means. Apparently BlackBerry owners get access to BBMpins.net, which is a social networking service that compares itself to Facebook, so this ID number will let everyone know that you're smartphone is fancier than theirs. Additionally, the phone comes with a unique ringtone, auto signature, and the Porsche Design watch app.
The glossy new look also features a sapphire glass camera lens and forged stainless steel frame. Its QWERTY keyboard is crafted with glass-like keys for an elevated style, and is capable of personalized auto-correction and next-word suggestions.
Even with a new look, the phone still functions with the same BlackBerry 10 technology, which includes a 3.1-inch touch screen, 64 GB of storage, an 8-megapixel camera, and the BlackBerry Priority Hub—which learns your habits and uses the info to efficiently prioritize your incoming messages.
The luxury smartphone can be pre-ordered for about $2,130 USD (it's listed on the Porsche Design website for €1,650), and will begin shipping in October.
