Pharrell, Beyoncé Lead In MTV Video Music Awards Nominations
2014, just like 2013, continues to be the year of Pharrell. And Beyoncé.
MTV just announced its Video Music Awards nominations and the hat-wearing singer and the mother to Blue Ivy have taken the lead.
Pharrell is up for Video of the Year and Best Pop Video for "Happy" and has two nominations in Best Male Video for "Happy" and "Sing," Ed Sheeran's song on which he's featured.
Meanwhile, Beyoncé scored a monster eight nominations, including Video of the Year for "Drunk in Love," Best Choreography and Female Video for "Partition" and Best Video With a Social Message for "Pretty Hurts."
The other video of the year nominees include Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX's "Fancy," Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" and "Chandelier" by Sia.
Iggy Azalea also earned two noms in the Best Pop Video category for "Fancy" and Ariana Grande's "Problem." Though odds are in her favor she'll still have to beat out Pharrell, Avicii and Jason Derulo.
