Phantom Gourmet: Great Food In The Suburbs
BOSTON (CBS) – Steel & Rye in the Lower Mills section of Milton serves grilled flatbreads and double-cut pork chops in a building that was once a garage.
"Our whole thing is we really want the restaurant to be comfortable and fun. The whole idea is to not be snooty and not feel up tight in any way. Very casual, very welcoming."
5 Corners Kitchen in Marblehead is an open, airy eatery boasting high seafood and hand-made pastas, along with big windows perfect for people watching.
"I think people want to be seen when they go out. People want to feel like they're part of some sort of scene. They want to feel alive. It's nice to have a lively vibe."
Evviva Cucina in Westford's Cornerstone Square is a bold Italian restaurant where the seafood risotto is an exceptional bargain.
"The best lobster shrimp risotto you're gonna find, and the biggest point to us was to make sure it stays reasonably priced. So we do ours for $22, it's really nice."
More and more chefs and restaurateurs are heading to the suburbs because the rents are lower and local residents are looking for better food in their hometowns.
For more food and fun, watch the Phantom Gourmet Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 and 11 a.m. on MyTV38.
