Take In Taco Tuesday

Date: Tuesday, September 9

Why have a regular old Tuesday when you can have a Taco Tuesday? Head down to Brooklyn Taco Co. on Essex St. to celebrate accordingly. You can follow their twitter for special daily deals or check out their online menu for every day offers. The guaco taco is one of the shops signature dishes, with chunky avocado, red onion, tomato, raw sweet corn, cheese, crema and habanero sauce. Along with serving up delicious Mexican cuisine, Brooklyn Taco Co. is also eco-friendly using only sustainable serviceware. Come in anytime from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Share Some Good Times With Cassadee Pope

Date: Thursday, September 11

Singer-songwriter Cassadee Pope is coming to Irving Plaza this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Pope is a country music star with a certified platinum single to her credit titled, "Wasting All These Tears." Her latest album, Frame By Frame, debuted at the number nine spot on the Billboard 200 and hit number one on the Top Country Albums chart. This show will feature songs from Frame By Frame and her 2012 release, The Cassadee Pope EP. Before striking out on her solo career, Pope was lead singer for the pop-punk band, Hey Monday. Tickets are general admission and available online for $30.

Shake Things Up

Date: Friday, September 12

Summer is almost over but that doesn't mean it's too late to cool down with a nice chocolate milkshake. This Friday is National Chocolate Milkshake Day so take a trip over to Big Daddy's on Park Ave. South in Gramercy Park for a classic American burger shack experience. A "Plain Jane" chocolate shake will cost you $7 a pop and is made with Edy's ice cream. Come in between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. for Big Daddy's weekday happy hour special and get any shake for half price. If waiting isn't your thing, you can hop online and reserve a table in advance or even have your shake brought to you within their delivery zone. Big Daddy's is open from 8:00 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday with deliveries from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Sing Along To Hakuna Matata

Date: Saturday, September 13

This Saturday take the whole family to the Minskoff Theatre on W. 45th Street to see The Lion King. Hailed as the most successful Disney musical of all time, The Lion King tells the story of a lion cub named Simba who is heir to King Mufasa's throne in the Pride Lands of Africa. After Mufasa is trampled by a herd of wildebeest, Simba runs away from home convinced that he was to blame for his father's death by his evil uncle, Scar. The rest of the play tells the story of Simba growing up in exile and eventually returning to take his place as the Pride Land's rightful king. The show is directed by Julie Taymor and stars Aaron Nelson as Simba. Tickets start in the mezzanine and orchestra sections for $116.

Take A Bite Out Of The Big Apple

Date: Sunday, September 14

Satisfy your mind and your stomach by taking a culinary stroll through the East Village. City Food Tours is offering their Flavors Of New York tour this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. starting at Union Square East. The tour lasts two and a half hours and stops at a minimum of seven different locations. Classic food items like NYC style pizza, egg cream, NY hot dogs and hot potato pierogis are all on the menu. In addition to the local food, you'll also be treated to insider stories about the neighborhood and expert tips including personal bar recommendations from your tour guide. $45 encompasses your sign up fee and all food offered on the tour.
