Experience Wicked At The Gershwin Theatre
Date: Tuesday, September 2
Wicked is performing this Tuesday at the Gershwin Theatre on W. 51st Street. This theatrical prequel tells the story of Glinda the Good Witch and Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West's early years, setting the stage for the events which take place in the classic film, The Wizard of Oz. Loosely based off a Gregory Maguire novel, Wicked has won multiple Tony Awards in addition to nabbing Idina Menzel a 2004 Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical in her original role as Elphaba. Time theater critic Richard Zoglin has been quoted as saying "if every musical had a brain, a heart and the courage of Wicked, Broadway really would be a magical place." Tickets start at $65 and the performance starts at 7:00 p.m.
Catch Derek Jeter's Final Game In Pinstripes Vs Boston
Date: Thursday, September 4
Head to the Bronx this Thursday as the Yankees and Red Sox play ball in Yankee Stadium for the last time this year. This will also be Yankees' captain, Derek Jeter's final game in pinstripes against his beantown rivals. Jeter has played for only one team – the Yankees – for his entire 20-year career, amassing over 3,400 hits in the process. During his illustrious tenure with the Bronx Bombers, the Boston Red Sox have always been Captain Clutch's most fierce and respected opponent. From multiple walk-off hits to his diving catch into the stands of the old Yankee Stadium, Jeter always seems to rise to the occasion and this historic contest should be no different. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and tickets start at $26.
