Southern Farmed, Artisan Foods Are Now Available Online
North Carolina farmers Jamie DeMent and Richard Holcomb have created the farm-to-table version of FreshDirect, where sustainability-minded American consumers will be able to order meats, produce, and artisan goods from more than 50 growers and producers throughout the South.
In addition to specialty gifts and recipe kits, Heirloom Provisions offers quality foods like heirloom grains, fresh meat and seafood, artisan breads, farmstead cheese, and classic Southern staples like Steen's Cane Syrup, Edwards Ham, and many others.
Holcomb says it was that it was calls from all over the country requesting his farm's grass-fed pork and heirloom tomatoes that made him realize there was a market for an online resource for Southern farm goods and handcrafted foods.
"It's always been our mission to grow and share our farm's food and way of life with as many as possible," said Holcomb.
"In the past few years, we've come to realize how many really don't have direct access to high quality food — much less reliable and affordable sources for it that can be found in one place."
