Girl Scouts Host First-Ever Cookie Recipe Contest
Girl Scout cookies are obviously delicious on their own, but could they be made even better in pie, cake, or ice cream form? Girl Scouts of the USA think so, and has teamed up with Taste of Home for the first-ever Girl Scout cookie recipe contest inspired by the iconic cookies.
Home bakers, cookie enthusiasts, and pastry chefs alike are invited to submit their creative dessert recipes using Girl Scout cookies through March 2, for the chance to win cash prizes ranging fro $250 to $500. Winners may also be featured in Taste of Home magazine. Recipes will be divided into four categories: cakes, pies, and cupcakes; cookies, brownies, and bars; pudding, ice cream, and gelatin desserts; and candies. The Taste of Home Test Kitchen will select the top 16 recipes, and the public will vote on their favorites in April.
"Each year, we see so many excited cookie fans share their own recipes using Girl Scout Cookies via social media and more, so we figured it was high time to do something with all this positive energy," said Anna Maria Chávez, CEO of Girl Scouts of the USA, in a statement. "The creative possibilities are endless, just like the number of ways girls use their cookie money to give back to their local communities."
