Dunkin' Donuts Rolls Out Holiday Sugar Cookie Lattes

At Dunkin' Donuts, you can now get your favorite Christmas cookies in caffeinated beverage form. Not to be outdone by Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts has unveiled two new super-sweet and highly caloric holiday-themed drinks: a snickerdoodle (a buttery cookie made with cinnamon sugar), and sugar cookie latte. Dunkin' is hoping that the success of last year's holiday drinks (red velvet latte and salted caramel hot chocolate) will be repeated this year.

"Our guests love tradition along with anything new ," John Costello, president of Dunkin' Donuts global marketing said in a phone interview. "I would describe our holiday strategy as familiar with a twist."

But heed this advice: like Christmas cookies themselves, it's probably best to keep these holiday-themed concoctions as an "every once in a while" treat, because a medium-sized snickerdoodle latte packs a wallop at 51 grams of sugar and 340 calories (that's more than twice the recommended daily sugar intake from the World Health Organization).

Expect both Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts holiday drinks to hit menus by mid-November.
