New York Chefs Take Over Maine
Kennebunkport, Maine's White Barn Inn is hosting a handful of New York chefs for their sixth annual Guest Chef Series, starting in March and running through May. Kennebunkport may not be the first place you think of traveling in March (temperatures are around the mid-40s right now), but these culinary weekends are the perfect excuse to get out of Dodge and bundle up by the fire (in your room).
This year's guest chefs are chef Jeremy McMillan from Bedford Post Inn (March 9-11), chef Joey Campanaro from the Little Owl (March 23-25), chef Jesse Schenker from Recette (April 20-22), and chef Howard Kalachnikoff from Gramercy Tavern (May 4-6). And the hotel is offering a special package to guests specifically coming for the Guest Chef Series that invites guests to mix and mingle with the chefs, take hands-on cooking classes with them, and jot down their secret tips at cooking demos.
The package includes accommodations (of course), extended breakfasts, afternoon tea, a welcome cocktail reception, all the cooking courses and demonstrations you feel like attending, a nine-course tasting menu dinner at the oft-awarded White Barn Inn Restaurant, the White Barn Inn cookbook, and an apron from the hotel. The package starts at $645 per night (two night minimum, based on double occupancy).
