Moonlight Magic

Moonlight Magic, 2010's opening event of Barbados' first annual Food & Wine and Rum Festival kicked off at the Hilton Barbados with plenty of rum punch. The event was hosted at Lighthouse Gardens with food by Chef Angela Garraway Holland of the hotel. There was beef brisket, filet mignon, tandoori grilled prawns, and more, but the evening's highlight had to be the Bajan fried fish cakes with Scotch bonnet sauce.

Travel + Leisure Editor, Niloufar Motamed introduced Barbados' Minister of Tourism, Richard L. Sealy, who praised the many successful Bajan chefs for taking the reigns in significant local restaurants previously led by expats, then asked everyone to enjoy not just the "next four days, or four years, but the next forty years" of the festival. "There's a new player on the scene."

Chef Fergus Henderson fanned himself on the book-signing stage, Chef Marcus Samuelsson removed his camouflage jacket, and Chef Tom Colicchio showed how to give a TV interview while keeping his drink off-camera. Among many players at the event, notables included Ed Kelly of AEXP, and Christina Grdovic, Publisher of Food & Wine. From the Hilton, the party moved to Late Night on the Bay at Wispers.
