Local Bands Look Forward To Exposure Of Marathon Venue
DENVER (CBS4) – The Rock 'n' Roll Denver Marathon is more than just a race. It's an experience. There are bands at every mile of the course and then a huge festival at the start/finish line. A lot of local bands look forward to playing the marathon because of the diverse crowd they can reach.
Starcar Sunday is a local Denver band known for pop/rock harmonies.
"We just want to write music that relates to people," said singer Dayna Geiger.
The group has been together for four years. They've put out a CD, a music video and played at venues like the Gothic and the Bluebird. Now they'll face a different kind of audience at the Rock 'n' Roll Denver Marathon.
"The energy... the constant change of people that come by, so you constantly have fresh audience who's cheering you on and we're cheering them on," said Carla Weiker, the other vocalist in the band. "It's probably one of the most fun gigs we have all year."
Starcar Sunday is one of 27 bands playing along the course and at the finish line festival providing entertainment and inspiration for the crowd.

"We actually get the 5K, the 10K, the half, and the full, so we really lucked out with our location this year because we 'll get to see everybody who's running," Weiker added.
Everybody will get to see them too sharing their music with potential new fans.
"In a way, it's kind of parallel to what we're doing. We feel like we're running our own marathon...it's just over a longer period of time," Geiger explained to CBS4.
Starcar Sunday will be playing at 20th and Champa streets in downtown Denver.
