Kathie Lee Gifford Comes Out With Her Own Wine

Kathie Lee Gifford is more well-known for her bubbly and gregarious talk show host personality, but now she will be putting her efforts into winemaking. Gifford has just announced that she will be launching her own line of wine called GIFFT, in collaboration with Scheid Family Wines on their Monterey Estate Family Vineyards, according to Yahoo Finance. The initial wines offered will be a 2012 estate-grown chardonnay along with a  2011 estate-grown red blend.

"It's well documented that I am a wine lover," Gifford said. "I wanted to create wines I would want to drink and serve to friends in my home — an elegant chardonnay like those I tasted in California in the 1970s and an easy-drinking yet balanced red blend."

Gifford told USA Today that she would never want to make pretentious or complicated wines — only those that she herself would drink. She is actually well-known for nursing her regular full glass of wine on the Today show. But despite her love of wine, Gifford said that the wine glass is just a prop.
