JW Marriott Los Angeles's Signature Sushi Pizza And Peking Duck

Welcome to our series where we focus on a hotel's signature dish and/or cocktail. In the same way that cities and towns have local specialties to try, hotels develop signature items that guests shouldn't miss — whether it's a popular room service dish they've perfected, a cocktail named after the hotel's longtime bartender, or a seasonal specialty that repeat guests always look forward to. These are the things that they love to serve, and that you'll really consider going back for.

One of the newest fixtures in downtown Los Angeles's skyline is the JW Marriott, which sits in prime real estate — a stone's throw from the Staples Center and right in the middle of L.A. Live, as well as mere blocks from food landmark Cole's French Dip. Since it is smack in the center of all the bustling action of downtown LA, one of the hotel's restaurants, LA Market, took inspiration from the city's unofficial favorite food — sushi — and put it on top of... a pizza. The restaurant's signature Sushi Pizza has fresh ahi tuna, crab, avocado, celery leaf, and julienned cucumber on top, along with a mascarpone cheese and wasabi mixture.

Not to be outdone, Wolfgang Puck, owner of the hotel's other restaurant WP24 (up on the 24th floor), created a signature dish all his own. He does a Whole Roasted Duckling "Peking Style" with traditional garnishes. It takes them three days to prepare the duck, which is served with homemade bao buns, daikon pickles, cucumbers, scallions, ginger sugar, and homemade hoisin sauce.

We just hope no one at the hotel would judge us for hitting both restaurants for their signature dishes in one go.
