Journey Between St. Mortiz & Zermatt On A 7.5-Hour Scenic Train Ride, Plus Accommodations
Winter is coming. No seriously, it'll be here before we know it. And luckily (for those of you who got that previous reference), it's not bringing death and doom with it, but rather white wonderlands in some of our favorite ski destinations.
To ring in the new season, the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz is partnering with the Hotel Mont Cervin Palace in Zermatt to offer a new Glacier Express experience. Considered one of the most famous train rides in the world, the 7.5 hour journey from St. Moritz to Zermatt passes across 291 bridges, travels through 91 tunnels and offers panoramic views of alpine scenery.
Guests who book the Glacier Express experience will spend two nights at the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz and then will make their way to Zermatt via the train to spend two more nights at Hotel Mont Cervin Palace. A world-renowned ski resort, the Carlton offers 60 suites viewing out onto Lake St. Moritz and Upper Engadin.
Hotel Mont Cervin Palace, guests will enjoy a "dine-around" evening meal while at the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz guests will receive a CHF 100 hotel credit per person per day that can be spent on food and drinks in the two hotel restaurants.
Accommodations in both hotels include breakfast and use of the wellness areas, transfer to the station in Zermatt, Wi-Fi, and private butler service and 24-hour chauffeur service at the Carlton. In Zermatt, a "dine-around" evening meal is offered and a CHF 100 (USD $102) dining credit per person, per day will be given to guests for use at either of the two hotel restaurants.
While traveling in between properties, riders can indulge in a three-course meal in the on-board restaurant. Rates start at CHF 2,763 (USD $2,841) depending on suite size and is valid from December 12-18, 2014; January 12-28, 2015; and again from March 1-April 5, 2015.
