Jay Z Partners With Legendary Cigar Brand Cohiba On A New Super-Premium Cigar And Humidor Collection
Jay Z has partnered with legendary brand Cohiba on a new super-premium collection of cigars and humidors called the Comador. The Cohiba name has been famous since it was first established in Cuba in 1966 as a limited production private brand supplied exclusively to Fidel Castro. In 1978 the name was registered in the United States by the General Cigar Company, which produces premium Cohiba cigars using tobacco from the Dominican Republic.
Two years in the making, the Comador marks Jay Z's first foray into the world of cigars. A 6" x 52 toro-size cigar made entirely of proprietary tobaccos from Cohiba's carefully selected growing regions in the Caribbean and Central America, the Comador was handcrafted in Santiago, Dominican Republic. Featuring a rare Connecticut Havana wrapper chosen for "exquisite flavor and a deep, lustrous appearance," the cigars will be available packaged three ways as part of the collaboration.
The signature Comador Humidor is actually two humidors in one; the main component is bound in hand-finished leather with a metallic Shawn Carter Collection crest that opens to reveal 14 cigars, as well as a cigar-shaped travel humidor holding seven additional cigars. The mahogany-lined doors and custom Spanish cedar trays can hold a total of 63 cigars in all. Only 350 of the Comador humidors are being made to commemorate the collection launch for $999 apiece. The Travel Humidor is available for purchase as a stand-alone item with seven cigars for $350 and the Comador Robusto Box holding seven cigars is priced at $210. Comador is available for purchase online, at Club Macanudo and 40/40 Club in New York, and will also be sold at select Barneys locations until January 2, 2014.
