Jaquet Droz's Newest Addition To The Lady 8 Collection Glitters With 1,160 Diamonds
The latest from Jaquet Droz is the Lady 8 Shiny women's watch, remade into a sleeker, more glittering version of the original that debuted in 2013. Inspired by the femininity and complexity of women, the brand initially created the timepieces in a figure-eight pattern to represent Jaquet Droz's lucky number, and offer up an interpretation on the curvature of the feminine form. Playing off this sensuality, the watch comes in several different editions, the latest, the Lady 8 Shiny, coming in gray gold, white diamonds and an alligator strap.
Aside from being aesthetically pleasing, the newest addition to the Lady 8 collection is also a mechanical marvel to rival any other piece in the Jaquet Droz house. Outfitted with a Jaquet Droz 1153, self-winding mechanical movement, double barrel and 22 carat rhodium-treated white gold oscillating weight, the watch also comes with a 68-hour power reserve and crystal-clear backing for visibility of the interior mechanics.
While the line incorporates the simplest of forms, such as the Lady 8 Adventure to the most ornate of engravings, like the Lady 8 Art Deco, the Lady 8 Shiny is by far the most extravagant, and made for women who wish to be seen. The 35 mm watch face is framed in 18 karat gold and set with 398 diamonds, while the upper ball bearing is covered in 146 diamonds. On the dial sits 491 diamonds, and even the buckle on the alligator leather strap has 125 diamonds. The timepiece carries a total of 1,160 stones—7.92 carats total. On the back casing individual numbers are engraved onto the bezel showing the production number of this limited-edition timepiece.
