IWC Partners With Tribeca Film Festival To Auction Off One-Of-A-Kind Timepiece
Swiss luxury watch manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen is partnering with New York's Tribeca Film Festival to auction off a one-of-a-kind timepiece honoring up-and-coming filmmakers. The auction comes as IWC returns as the event's official Festival-Time Partner for the second year. The unique timepiece will be a part of an exclusive package including VIP access to the Tribeca Film Festival, an invitation to the For the Love of Cinema private dinner hosted by IWC Schaffhausen, as well as luxury hotel accommodation in New York City; the package will be auctioned off April 9 at watch-collectors' auction house Antiquorum, in NYC. The watch in question is a unique version of IWC's famed Pilot's Watch, dubbed the Spitfire Chronograph Edition "Tribeca Film Festival 2014" (Ref. IW387811).
Equipped with the IWC-manufactured 89365 calibre, a self-winding mechanical movement, water-resistant to six bar and featuring a 68-hour power reserve, it comes encased in gleaming 18-karat gold. The modern slate-colored dial is set off by two rich, bordeaux-colored subdials, meant to "evoke images of the legendary red carpet of Hollywood's golden age juxtaposed with the dramatic grandeur of the steely city of New York."
"Antiquorum is thrilled to offer this exceptional and unique IWC timepiece," says Evan Zimmermann, President & CEO of Antiquorum Auctioneers. "This represents a rare opportunity for watch aficionados around the world to not only acquire an extraordinary timepiece, but also to experience the magical world of film first hand at the world-renowned Tribeca Film Festival." The watch package can be bid upon on April 9 at the live auction at Antiquorum's Madison Avenue showroom or online.
