Before hitting the sand to bump, set, and spike, Olympic gold medalist Misty May-Treanor fuels her body with the right eats, which can be a challenge on the road.

"You can make a meal out of anything; you just have to be smart about it," said May-Treanor, who met with The Daily Meal to share her tips on how to eat like an Olympian before heading off to London. "You’ve got to be a bit more creative."

May-Treanor keeps nutritious food on hand even when she is in a hurry. Though it is tempting to indulge while traveling, May-Treanor says that moderation is key.

"It’s important to listen to your body," said May-Treanor. "It’s OK to have things in moderation."

May-Treanor and her teammate Kerri Walsh are vying for a third gold medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games, having won gold in beach volleyball at the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games.

"Everyone has an Olympian inside of you," said May-Treanor, who shares her tips for eating like an Olympian on the road.
