Healthy July 4th Recipes
The Fourth of July has a standard menu which includes some pretty delicious foods. We're talking about hot dogs, hamburgers, and let's not forget all the sides. But we have to admit that most Independence Day options aren't exactly good for us.
Thankfully, there are a lot of alternatives that taste great and make our bodies feel good too. We've rounded up some delicious and healthy foods to serve at your Fourth of July party.
Sweet Potato Black Bean Burgers
Beef burgers, although delicious, can be high in fat, especially with added cheese. This recipe packs all the protein without all that other stuff that makes our bodies sad. Plus, it has sweet potatoes, which adds an unexpected twist your guests will really love.
Thai Marinated Grilled Chicken Skewers
This is another healthy entrée for your grill. The chicken is spiced up with Asian flavors and it's served with a peanut dipping sauce made with coconut milk. We suggest adding a few onions, peppers, and other vegetables to the skewers for an even healthier main dish.
No-Mayo Potato Salad
Mayo is one of those no-no foods for healthy eating, so this potato salad is a perfect alternative. It uses vinegar and olive oil instead of mayonnaise and tastes even more delicious than a standard potato salad. Plus, chopped chilies add some heat.
Grilled Summer Salad
You already have the grill going, so why not incorporate into your salad? This recipe has grilled asparagus, grilled endives, and grilled onions. There's also no heavy dressing on this salad, which makes it a perfect addition to a healthy menu.
Cheesecake Stuffed Strawberries
This dessert is somehow both rich and light. It uses fresh fruit and standard cheesecake filling to make a healthy dessert bite that your guests will love.
Watermelon Fizz
This drink can either alcoholic or non-alcoholic, but either way it's delicious and refreshing. Summer is watermelon season after all, so the fruit deserves a featured spot on your menu.
