Fashion, furniture, art...it all begins with design. This October, check out Philly's vibrant design scene at the aptly-named DesignPhiladelphia, featuring more than a week of workshops, conferences, installations, exhibits and more. – Chelsea Karnash

THE BASICS

What: DesignPhiladelphia offers more than a week of design-centric programming. Now in its 10th year, the event includes more than 400 national and international designers from all disciplines and more than 120 events in venues in and around Philly. This year's theme is "A Decade of Design" in celebration of the event's 10th anniversary.

PopUp Place: Kick-off Cocktails + Party

Help kick-off this year's DesignPhiladelphia Festival in Emmy Award-winning digital agency Bluecadet's new 8,400-square-foot studio space. In addition to a silent auction spotlighting mirrors that have been transformed by international designers, expect unique cocktails and entertainment.

Camden Night Garden: The Harvest

Celebrate the completion of the world's largest tablecloth (yes, really) at this party, which includes light projections and seasonal food from local restaurants.

Wine Design: A Blind Tasting
More than Old

Whether you're a wine amateur or an aficionado, this blind tasting is a great way to start off your Saturday evening. Taste-test a series of California red wines, vote for your favorite then try to guess its price.

Old City Fest

Art, design, fashion and food combine for the first-ever Old City Fest, which honors a decade of DesignPhiladelphia.

Artist Lofts: Creative Community

Ever wanted to catch a glimpse of the inside of a true artist's loft? Now's your chance. During this tour, members of the artistic community will open their homes and studio space to the public.

I Love My Creative Job!

College students and recent grads can get a look at some of the creative jobs at Philadelphia's Creative Economy and hear from local professionals in advertising, fashion and more.

Many DesignPhiladelphia events are free, but some (like the kickoff and closing parties) require you to reserve a spot or buy a ticket.
