Grand Gourmet — The Flavor Of Midtown Comes To Grand Central
On May 1, more than 40 restaurants set up shop inside Grand Central Terminal's cavernous Vanderbilt Hall, serving small plates of some of their most popular dishes and proving that the neighborhood has no shortage of spectacular dining options.
Since 2000, The Grand Central Partnership's Grand Gourmet —The Flavor of Midtown has brought together an ever-growing array of delicious food and drink, and this year's event brought more than 1,000 guests.
Dishes served included gazpacho with saffron-poached shrimp from Club 101, an epic cheese spread from Murray's, cardamom buns from Fika, chipotle corned beef and potato croquettes from O'Casey's, phyllo-wrapped crabmeat rolls from Kellari Taverna, gnocchi from Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse, stuffed baby eggplant from Pera, avocado jhal muri with Goan shrimp from Tulsi, grilled octopus from Ammos Estiatorio, gnocchi Bolognese from Pescatore, roasted Blue Point oysters from Grand Central Oyster Bar, braised lamb and spinach strudel from Cibo, and sliced steak from Benjamin Steakhouse, Michael Jordan's The Steakhouse NYC, Strip House Midtown, and The Capitol Grille. To top it off, Financier Patisserie served a selection of pastries, Ciao Bella served gelato, Shake Shack served concretes, and Magnolia Bakery served cupcakes.
While the event was extremely crowded as usual, wait times for individual dishes were short, and all guests had the opportunity to sample food to their heart's delight in one of the most gorgeous rooms in the city. If you missed out on it this year, we'd suggest planning on dropping by next year.
