Gifting A Mother's Day Menu

Mother's Day is here again, and each year it's a challenge to show Mom you love her in a unique and special way. No one appreciates a handmade gift as much as Mom, and as a chef, I believe the best hand-crafted gifts are of the edible variety! With spring here at last, I've highlighted fresh fruit for healthier homemade treats Mom will adore.

Berry Good Breakfast

Are you thinking breakfast in bed is what Mom craves? If pancakes, waffles, or French toast are on the menu, up the ante with freshly sliced strawberries and real maple syrup. Strawberries are sweet, tart, and will add vitamin C and fiber without a ton of calories, and you'll need less sugary syrup too.

Prosciutto e Melone

Wrap sweet cantaloupe wedges in thinly sliced prosciutto for a simple and delicious way to start a meal. Add greens dressed with balsamic vinaigrette and you've got a light and perfect lunch.

Refreshing Fruit Water

Lemonade is delicious but can be very high in sugar! Since Mom is sweet enough, try my fruit-infused water which is full of flavor and perfect to accompany any meal of the day. To make it, simply fill a pitcher with fresh filtered water and add sliced strawberries, melon, pineapple, and grapes and let steep in the refrigerator overnight. Add fresh mint, cilantro, or basil leaves to make it even more impressive.

Bake Her a Cake

My stunning Pineapple Upside Down Cake is wholesome and easy to make. Making Mom's day just became a no-brainer!

All of these delicious ideas can be made with fresh fruit from your local store or farmers market, but if you're really looking to WOW Mom this Mother's Day, send her a Mother's Day Bouquet from Edible Arrangements. It's packed with delicious, freshly cut, and perfectly ripe fruit so it's perfect on its own, but leftover fruit can be used to make any of the recipes listed here. On top of that, it comes in a gorgeous, reusable melamine serving bowl, a gift that will last long after Mother's Day has gone!
