Ohio based Fat Heads Brewing announced they will open their highly anticipated new Portland brewpub on Monday November 2nd in the Pearl District. With a recent Gold Medal win at the 2014 Great American Beer Festival (Alpenglow Weizenbock, German-Style Wheat Ale) and good word of mouth about their Head Hunter IPA they have managed to build up some hype in the skeptical minds of Oregon beer geeks.

Head Brewmaster Matt Cole has relocated to Portland to setup the 10 barrel brewery with 13 fermentors and 12 bright tanks that should allow them to brew all of their beer in-house with just a little bit leftover for specialty accounts. Cole also notes that there will be a heavy focus on indigenous ingredients, so the Portland location will experience some completely different brews than their Cleveland counterpart, for example Zoobomb Dortmunder is in the works — named after the weekly downhill bike ride. Patrons can expect 42 rotating beers on tap, from Fat Head's and other guest breweries across Oregon and all over the world.

The full restaurant at Fat Heads pdx will seat 278 with a food menu focusing on the standard pub grub with as many local ingredients used as possible. The Fat Heads team has been busy recruiting their pub staff from veterans of the local field of neighboring Deschutes brewpub and others.
