A Farmers' Market-Inspired Cocktail Party

Who isn't crazy for farm-fresh, locally-grown fruits and vegetables? They taste better, are picked at the peak of ripeness, and by supporting area farmers and purveyors, you're spending your money wisely by reinvesting it in your community. We did a Loco for Local party last year and it was a hit. So we had to do another — and it's the perfect way to celebrate National Farmers' Market Week running August 7th through 13th!

In case you're not familiar with the concept, our "Loco for Local" themed parties are all about thinking local and using ingredients that are fresh and in season when creating the menu. Take advantage of all that your local farmers' market has to offer (and for those of us in New England who endured a long, c-c-cold winter, we have EARNED this) by grabbing your favorite fruits and vegetables that farm stands are bursting with this time of year.

Inspired by the bounty of our area markets this year, we have created a party that is easy, fun and fresh. Start off by handing guests a Cucumber Gimlet Cocktail, then move on to three appetizers that are not only great looking but seriously D-E-L-I-S-H. (Really, they are. Without revealing too much, let's just say that there were very few of these to take home to husbands after taping.) Set the scene with a themed playlist, an entertaining game inspired by the farmers' almanac, and gorgeous arrangements that will have you pairing fresh fruit and flowers — even taking advantage of clipping what's growing in your own backyard... LITERALLY!

So get ready to enjoy the lazy, hazy days of summer with great drinks, food, games, flowers, music, and most of all... company.
