Now that things have settled down after July 4th, how about celebrating French independence? July 14th is a great way to indulge in delicious French wine and food and D.C. a few locations that offer both, as well as a French chef in residence. You can sip wine flights, savor regional classics, or if you aren't in the mood for French, consider a sherry-focused wine dinner paired with modern Indian food? Too many choices, right? How about trying all three?

2941 Restaurant to Celebrate France's Birthday Bash
If you are a true Francophile and want to celebrate French independence, 2941 Restaurant in Falls Church, Virginia, has a French chef whose special Bastille Day menu will knock your socks off. Executive chef Bertrand Chemel's special three-course prix-fixe menu – with pricing based on the main course selected, celebrates French culinary classics like escargot de Bourgogne, plateaux de fruit de mer, lapin à la Provençal, lobster Thermidor, blueberry vacherin, raspberry millefeuille, and apricot clafouti. The special menu is available from Thursday, July 14th through Sunday, July 17th – dinner service only and reservations are required. To reserve a seat call 703-270-1500.

ENO Wine Bar Celebrates Le Quatorze Juillet with French Wine Flights and More
If the party for La Fête Nationale, or as we call it, Bastille Day, has you yearning for a party a la Francaise, head to ENO Wine Bar in Georgetown on Thursday, July 14. Join the fun and drink cool French wines paired with regional French foods from across L'Hexagone. ENO's holiday party is from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and the holiday menu includes over 40 French wines and a special flight (bubbly, white, rosé, red) for $22. If you want to take it easy, you can also order wines by the glass, which start at $9. The petit plats menu includes tempting treats like Tomato Tart Tatin priced at $11 or a French Triple Cream cheese from Brillat Savarin starting at $5. In addition, ENO is offering 30% off all French wine bottles. Make a reservation by email or call 202-295-2826.

Indique to Host Sherry Wine Dinner
RedEye Menus, a community-focused collaborative dinner series turns one year old this month. To celebrate they are hosting a sherry wine dinner at Indique, D.C.'s celebrated Indian restaurant. The trio behind RedEye, Chantal Tseng, Carlie Steiner, and Holly Barzyk are drinks gurus and sherry lovers and they are pairing a five-course spice infused menu (prepared by chef K.N. Vinod) on Wednesday, July 27 at Indique. The party starts at 7 p.m. with cocktails and is $100 per person with reservations.
