As D.C.'s food scene continues to hum like a well-oiled machine, foodies get more options to enjoy new or unique culinary experiences. Summertime used to be slow on this front, but with so many places vying for our attention there is plenty to choose from including luxury cruises on the Chesapeake Bay featuring gourmet food and drink, choosy kid menu options, and a bubbles, oysters, and brew event that gives Labor Day weekend a bit of class. It's another banner week in food and drink in the District, so enjoy the spread.
 
Burton's Grill & Bar to Host Fundraiser to Benefit YMCA Loudoun County
If you missed the recent opening of Burtons Grill & Bar in Sterling, Virginia, head to their fundraiser on Sunday, September 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.  Burton's Grill & Bar is committed to preparing delicious, nutritious food and offers regular menus plus vegetarian, gluten, and pale- friendly menus. On September 25, Burton's will launch their new choosy kids menu, (look for the {B} symbol on the menu) and 50% of every sale from this new menu will benefit YMCA Loudoun County. The choosy kids menu is based on USDA's newest nutrition guidelines, and it lets parents choose the ingredients and preparation method of their child's dishes. So grab the kids and head over there.
 
Macon Bistro & Larder to Host B.O.B. (Bubbles, Oysters, and Brews) Party 
Who needs to hang out in the heat around a smoking grill Labor Day weekend when great food, company, and drinks can be had at Macon Bistro and Larder's chill covered arcade and patio? Saturday, September 3, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., pay just $35 per person (excluding tax and gratuity) to slurp down oysters, brews, and wine. Look for wine from acclaimed importer Roy Cloud's Vintage '59 Portfolio, locally farmed oysters from Rappahannock Oyster Company, and beer from D.C.'s own Handsome Beer Company.  RSVP is required and can be made by emailing AJ Johnson at ajohnson@maconbistro.com.
 
Park Hyatt Washington to Host Fall 2016 Masters of Food & Wine and Set Sail on The Liberté
Every season, foodies in D.C. anxiously await the announcement of the Park Hyatt Masters of Food & Wine programs, and the culinary and beverage program you won't want miss is the fall 2016 event called "Beauty & Bounty of The Bay: Set Sail on The Liberté." Planned for Saturday, September 17, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., this event is a celebration of local chefs, food products, sommeliers, and the bounty from the Chesapeake Bay. The three-hour event will take place aboard Liberté, a custom-designed 74-foot schooner and offers guests incredible views of Maryland's Eastern Shore as the backdrop while they enjoy exceptional hors d'oeuvres prepared by executive chef Franck Loquet and Blue Duck Tavern's chef de cuisine Brad Deboy, and wine and fall-inspired cocktails selected by Blue Duck Tavern's General Manager Joseph Cerione. Truckeroo Fest at the Fairgrounds
Every month, the Half Street Fairgrounds is a great place to go to check out Truckeroo, which hosts the best of the D.C. area's favorite food trucks. Held from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. April to October, this month's party is Friday, August 19. Bring the family and sample cold refreshing drinks, tacos, tapas, tempting Lebanese sandwiches, frozen custard, and more while you enjoy live music performed on the Bayou sounds stage.
