Winetender Series at Stems & Skins: Each Tuesday in April, Stems & Skins will host a local guest “winetender” behind the bar pouring some of his or her favorite wines. The event goes from 6 to 9 p.m., and Harry Root of Grassroots Distributing will be the first featured on April 4.
Weekday Brunch at Poogan’s Porch: If you’re looking to get your brunch fix during the week, head to Poogan’s Porch from April 8 to 23. They will offer dishes like chicken and waffles, pulled pork Benedict, and sunrise shrimp and grits from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Beyoncé Brunch: Bay Street Biergarten is going Queen B with its monthly brunch party themed after Beyoncé. Called Brunchelicious, the brunch will be on April 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and includes drink specials like a lemonade cocktail. Reservations are accepted and highly recommended.
Spoleto SCENE Shakedown: The annual Shakedown Event for Spoleto’s young professional group, SCENE, takes place on April 13 with bites from local chefs, cocktails, and beer at Memminger Auditorium. Tickets are $60.
Snail Awards: Slow Food Charleston will host their annual Snail Awards on April 13 at the American Theatre. The celebration will honor producers, artisans, educators, advocates, and others who advance the organization’s mission to promote diverse foodways. Nathalie Dupree will be honored with the 2017 Legend Award. Tickets are $75.
Diner en Blanc: Break out the white because on Thursday, April 27, Charleston welcomes back Diner en Blanc. More than 1,000 people are expected to attend at a secret location. You must register in advance for a space at the event.
Crawfish Boil: The annual All-Americana Crawfish Boil will take place at Home Team BBQ’s downtown location on Saturday, April 29. From 2 to 7 p.m., guests can enjoy live music and a plate of crawfish for $15 in advance, $20 at the door. Additional plates can be purchased for $10 each. New Orleans-inspired special cocktails — think hurricanes — will be also served.
Chef’s Potluck: Part of the month-long Eat Local Month is Lowcountry Local First’s popular fundraising event, Chef’s Potluck. The event will take place at Middleton Place and features 16 participating chefs who are paired with local farmers, fishermen, and ranchers. Tickets are $80 for members.
The Gentry Bar & Room: Chef Marvin Woods moves to Charleston to lead the kitchen at the new Gentry Bar & Room. His Gullah-Geechee inspired menu will be paired with whiskey and craft cocktails.
Sorghum & Salt: Chef Tres Jackson returns to South Carolina to open Sorghum & Salt in the former space of Two Boroughs Larder. The menu aspires to be vegetable-forward with a focus on local and sustainable products.
