Washington, DC New Menu Report: 1/6/2016
t took a while to happen, but the mercury has finally dipped into temperatures that feel more like winter. In response, we suggest you sip hot cups of clam chowder, sample classic shrimp dishes, and dive into a hearty burger to stave off the chill. That's our menu update for the District this week. Stay warm!
Burger, Tap & Shake
They're back! Burger, Tap & Shake has announced their monthly burger and shake for January; and while they may not fit into certain people's low cal resolutions, carnivores, Porto lovers, and chai fans will celebrate. This month's burger, the Juicy Blucy, is priced at $9 dollars and is made with custom ground beef stuffed with blue cheese and garnished with bacon, pear and walnut chutney, and a Port wine aïoli. What to drink? A thick, creamy vanilla ice cream shake flavored with chai tea.
Legal Sea Foods
For the new year, Legal Sea Foods is launching two new menu specials that put succulent shrimp and classic chowder front and center, and both special menus will be available at 704 7th Street, NW, in D.C., and in Virginia at 2301 Jefferson Davis Hwy in Crystal City, and Tysons Galleria in Mclean.
January is National Soup Month and Legal Sea Foods has made Friday, January 15, a "Legal" holiday and is calling it Chowda Day. To celebrate, their regular, eight ounce cup of New England clam chowder, which normally sells for $6.50, will be sold for just $1 dollar (sorry limit of one cup of chowder per entrée).
In addition, from Thursday, January 7 to Wednesday, February 10, Legal Sea Foods will host their Shrimp Classic, which will celebrate all things shrimp with a special menu showcasing nine distinctly different dishes. The featured menu, titled the Shrimp Classic, is from $11.95 to $27.95 and includes two tasty new starters, three light entrées, and four heartier entrées. Look for tempting dishes like shrimp pad Thai, Mediterranean grilled shrimp, and shrimp Fra Diavolo.
