Trucks Carrying Bacon And Furniture Overturn On I-64, Causing 9-Hour Closure
A truck carrying a trailer full of furniture crashed on Interstate 64 near James City County, Virginia, on Sunday at about 2 a.m., causing furniture to spill out across both lanes.
Then, as a driver slowed down to avoid the furniture, his vehicle was sideswiped by another tractor trailer carrying a load of bacon. The bacon trailer was then run off the road and into the nearby woods.
According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, a tow truck responding to the bacon truck crash managed to pull the vehicle back onto the road, but the episode caused bacon to spill onto the interstate as well. The tractor trailer then fell into the woods again.
Transportation crews spent nine hours cleaning the roads of furniture debris and bacon before all lanes were reopened. No one was hurt in either crash, though an untold quantity of bacon met its untimely end.
