New Orleans Hosts The Inaugural Fried Chicken Festival
New Orleans obviously loves a good celebration, so it comes as no surprise that the city's list of annual festivals continues to grow each year. The city knows how to revel in the things that makes it unique, and holding a festival is the perfect way to highlight the areas most prized attributes.
The newest edition to the New Orleans festival line up is the Fried Chicken Festival — sponsored by Raising Canes — which kicks off its inaugural event on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 11:00 a.m. in Lafayette Square, located in the city's Central Business District.
More than 20 restaurants—including The Company Burger, Milkfish, and Frencheeze Food Truck—will serve their best rendition of the South's most beloved comfort foods. The festival will also include a Fried Chicken Wing Eating contest, and there will be local and national food writers, bloggers, and critics on hand to judge the Best Fried Chicken contest.
Live music will be provided by the Brass-a-holics, Sweet Crude, John Boutte, Tank & the Bangas, and DJ Mannie Fresh. The Fried Chicken Festival is a family-friendly event and is free to the public.
