Kettle Black Brings Rustic Italian To Silver Lake
Originally home to California Bank, the new restaurant Kettle Black in Silver Lake features a modern approach to rustic Italian cuisine.
The 3,000 square foot space seats 105 diners and includes an original bank vault, 17-foot ceilings, original tile and brick, a living green wall, wood truss beams, marble floor tiles within hardwood flooring and marble table and bar tops. There is also alfresco dining on the small patio.
Antipasti highlights include a sea bream crudo with tangerine vinaigrette, a charcuterie plate, octopus salad and panzanella with arugula and parmesan reggiano. Dishes from the wood fired oven include eggplant with saba vin cotto, cauliflower with fried capers and pickled raisins and meatballs in tomato sauce. Pizzas include burrata and tomato, meatball, prosciutto and arugula, broccoli and potato with crème fraiche and mushroom with gorgonzola.
House made pasta dishes include gnocchi with braised lamb and sundried tomatoes, garganelli with Bolognese, pappardelle with mushrooms, agnolotti with zucchini pesto and cappellini with pepper.
Entrees include flat iron steak with Tuscan kale, branzino with Yukon potatoes and roasted chicken with seasonal vegetables.
Desserts include sponge cake with candied pecans and smoked meringue, vanilla panna cotta and affogato.
Kettle Black also offers a daily happy hour from 5 to 7 pm including $3 house beer, $6 house red, white and rose wine, $7 well drinks and $8 punch.
