Hurricane Irma Cakes Are Popping Up At Publix

Miami 940-AM WINZ talk show host and on-air personality Andy Slater tweeted a photo of a Hurricane Irma cake being sold at a Publix supermarket in Plantation, Florida.

He tweeted, "In good taste? Available @Publix in Plantation."

The photo was sent to Slater by Twitter user @Andyacr.

The PublixHelps Twitter account, the supermarket chain's account dedicated to customer service, reached out to Slater and asked for the location of the Publix in the Florida town, as there appear to be at least three stores with the word "Plantation" in their name. Publix has issued no other statement as of this time regarding the sale of the dessert.

Surprisingly, most of Twitter is having a positive reaction to the colorful cake, which depicts a Weather Channel-style frosting hurricane on an ocean-blue cake with "Hurricane Irma" written in white icing.

However, there are still a few people who find that the colorful cake leaves a bad taste in their mouths.

*Story Update* Strangely enough, this turned out to be only the first instance of what was to become Hurricane Irma themed cakes showing up in the bakery section of many different Publix locations in Florida.Ā
