Houston Welcomes Its Newest Health Food Destination, H.S. Green

In a city where it feels like its swimsuit season eight months out of the year, more and more diners are opting for fresh and healthy, farm-to-table choices over the ever-so-appealing barbecue and burger joints. That said, as Houston's young, urban population continues to grow, so does the demand for clean eats served in a jiffy.

H.S. Green is a welcome addition to the Uptown area, which is a bustling residential and financial district for young professionals. Coined "The Good Food Bar," the restaurant offers diners a varying selection of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free selections including salads, wraps, and pizzas.

But what makes it the good food bar? Dine-in customers have the option to walk through the choose-your-own-adventure style line and fully customize their order. With fresh vegetables, toppings, house-made sauces, and dressings, the possibilities are endless.

In addition to serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner six days a week (the early morning breakfast tacos are a must,) the restaurant houses a full-service juice bar. Cold-pressed juices and smoothies are available in tasty flavors like the Green Sunburst or watermelon with coconut water and mint.

Since no one's perfect, H.S. Green does offer a little in the way of guilt. The eatery, playfully decorated with eclectic furniture in hues of bright green, welcomes guests to enjoy beer and wine at the expansive bar. And if you're someone who prefers to save your calories for dessert – it won't be wasted on its uniquely delicious, thin-crust Nutella pizza topped with fruit, a nice balance between indulgence and nutritional value.
