High School Senior Gets Into Yale With An Admissions Essay About Papa John's

Carolina Williams, a high school senior from Brentwood, Tennessee, was recently accepted into Yale University after writing an essay about Papa John's pizza.

"When I saw that the prompt was 'Write about what you love to do,' my very first thought was order pizza from Papa John's," Williams told Business Insider. "I order pizza from Papa John's once a week — it's my absolute favorite! I thought for a while about if I should actually do that and if they would take it seriously, but I decided to just write it because it was so easy and my passion came through."

Williams tweeted about the news and was congratulated on the accomplishment by the pizza chain.

"CONGRATS, CAROLINA!! We're so honored that you wrote about us in your essay!" Papa John's said in the tweet.

To no surprise, Williams celebrated the acceptance by ordering a cheese pizza from Papa John's; however, she's decided to go to Auburn University instead, People reported. Had she chosen to attend Yale in New Haven, Connecticut, her loyalty to Papa John's might have been tested by the presence of the venerable Sally's Apizza or the legendary Frank Pepe Pizzeria, both of which regularly rank prominently on The Daily Meal's 101 Best Pizzas in America list.
