The Daily Dish: October 7, 2015

Welcome to The Daily Meal's Daily Dish, where we highlight what's hot and trending in the world of all things food and drink.

Today's first course?

A bit of New York City-centric food news today!

Last week, we reported Chick-fil-A would hand out a year's worth of free chicken to 100 of the first 300 customers to visit its first Manhattan store (America's biggest). In the wee hours of Saturday morning, hundreds lined up on 36th Street for the opportunity to win this delicious prize. That's right, even a hurricane warning couldn't deter folks from being the first to try New York City's Chick-fil-A.

New York City's famed Central Park restaurant Tavern on the Green is being sued for refusing to let a veteran of the Iraq War, dine with her dog. Yvette Coley's dog was not allowed in the restaurant because she was not blind. Coley was shocked that the staff of such a notable restaurant wouldn't understand that service dogs provide other services. Afterwards, Coley went to Eric Ripert's Le Bernardin, where the entire party was welcomed "without reservation, in both senses of the word."

Lastly, the Halloween costume of your dreams is here: Sexy Pizza Rat! Remember the video of the New York City subway rat struggling to drag a slice of pizza that went viral last month? (If you have no idea what we're talking about, watch the original video on The Daily Meal.) Well, online costume center Yandy jumped on the popularity of the pizza rat meme to create this $90 Halloween costume.

And that's today's Daily Dish. Thanks for watching. Stop by tomorrow for another helping.
