Christmas, like Thanksgiving, is a holiday that’s closely associated with food, specifically the unbridled consumption of it. But if you’d rather spend the holiday sharing quality time with loved ones instead of being stuck in the kitchen cooking a feast, or if you’ll be traveling, we’ve tracked down some major chain restaurants — from fast-food joints to high-end steakhouses — that will be open on Christmas Day.
Note that many restaurants open on Dec. 25 are only open for lunch, in order to let their employees go home early. Additionally, only a handful of chains are open across the board, at every location, on Christmas Day. So double-check that your destination will indeed be open before loading the family into the station wagon. And don’t forget to make a reservation if you can.
Fan's of the popular 1994 Christmas movie, "The Santa Clause" will probably already know this, but all Denny’s locations will be open 24 hours on Christmas Day. In the film Tim Allen's character takes his son out for a comical meal at the "American institution." Seasonal menu items include a turkey and dressing dinner, cinnamon roll pancakes, apple bourbon crepes and pecan and pumpkin pie. In the
IHOP locations will be open on Christmas, but guests are encouraged to call their local franchise to double-check.
Huddle House locations are open 24/7, and this applies to Christmas Day as well.
Like Huddle House, Waffle House is also open 24/7 and will be open all day on Christmas.
Most Village Inn locations will be open on Christmas, but the hours may differ. Check your desired location’s website for details.
Legal Sea Foods will be open on Christmas; you can check the hours at your nearest location here.
Christmas Day specials at Marie Callender’s include fresh roasted turkey or ham with all the trimmings, beef stroganoff, and shrimp and chicken carbonara. They’ll also package up your meal to eat at home. Call ahead to confirm participation.
All Hard Rock Cafe locations will be open during normal hours on Christmas.
Most Starbucks locations will be open on Christmas Day (a great time to try one of their secret holiday drinks) but may adjust their hours. Call ahead or check the website to confirm.
Select locations of Yard House will be open on Christmas, including ones in Las Vegas, Hawaii and Orlando. Call ahead to see if yours will be open.
Old Country Buffet/Yelp
Like its sister restaurant, Hometown Buffet, all Old Country Buffets will be open on Dec. 25 from 11 to 6.
Most Panda Express locations will be open on Christmas, but guests are encouraged to call or check their website.
Select Applebee’s will be open on Christmas, but the company suggests you call ahead.
Eighteen locations of Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar will be open on Christmas Day and serving a three-course dinner; check their website to see if your local one will be open.
All locations of Bucca di Beppo are slated to be open on Christmas.
Popular chain steakhouse Smith & Wollensky will be open on Christmas Day.
About a third of all Perkins locations will be open on Christmas Day. Call your nearest location to double-check.
All locations of Benihana will be open on Christmas Day.
Morton’s will be open on Christmas Day from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Select locations will offer côte de boeuf for $135 and filet & lobster Oscar for $59.
The Oceanaire Seafood Room/Yelp
The Oceanaire will be open from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Christmas Day.
Mastro’s will be open from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Christmas Day. As a special, they’ll offer a chateaubriand, sliced tableside and served with béarnaise and peppercorn sauces on the side, for $115.
Nearly all locations of Boston Market will be open on Christmas Day, but specific hours will vary by location. Dine-in guests can order a plate of sliced roasted turkey breast, half rotisserie chicken or boneless ham, two sides, a dinner roll and a slice of apple or pumpkin pie for $13.99.
STK Steakhouses will be open on Dec. 25 (check for specific hours) serving their full menu as well as a prime rib special for $58 per adult and $24 per child.
Fogo de Chao Brazilian Steakhouse/Yelp
Fogo de Chão locations will be open on Christmas from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., serving their full Brazilian steakhouse menu as well as a handful of seasonal specials including wagyu New York strip, cauliflower steak and chocolate brigadeiros for dessert.

All locations of Romano’s Macaroni Grill will be open on Christmas from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and will serve a $25 3-course Christmas meal featuring Caesar salad, chicken scaloppine, chicken parmesan, butternut tortellacci, pumpkin spice cannoli and cheesecake.
All locations of Kona Grill will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., with a couple specials on the menu: a $39 surf and turf (an 8-ounce filet with a lobster-filled “Monte Carlo Roll”) and a $12 kids’ special with a 4-ounce filet, mashed potatoes and asparagus.
Almost all Tony Roma's locations will be open on Christmas; call ahead to check the specific hours.
Ruth’s Chris locations will be open on Christmas, but the hours will vary. Select locations will be offering a three-course meal starting at $45.95 as well as a holiday surf and turf special starting at $49.95. They’re also offering their most popular side dishes to-go. Not a bad deal considering Ruth’s Chris is one of America’s best high-end steakhouse chains.
