Amy Schumer Orders Clam Chowder And Oysters, Leaves Boston Waitress A Fat Tip

Amy Schumer has been in Boston as of late filming her new movie, I Feel Pretty. The actress recently stopped into the Beantown restaurant Union Oyster House for a bite to eat and left her college-student waitress a hefty $500 tip on an $80 bill.

"She was very nice," restaurant owner Joe Milano told People magazine. "She said to [the server] that she was once a waitress and knew how hard it was."

Milano also said that Schumer and her unidentified male dining companion ordered clam chowder, steamers, and two-dozen oysters at the eatery — which claims to be the oldest continuously operating restaurant in the country.

"She was dressed very casually — a baseball cap, sunglasses, no makeup... it seemed like she didn't want to be recognized," he continued. "It was early, like 5:30 or 6, so it wasn't busy, but we sat her in a back dining room area that wasn't being used so she had her privacy."

This isn't the first time Schumer's left a grand tip. Last year, she left a $1,000 tip on a $77 tab for bartenders at a Hamilton performance. And the year before that, she gave a 1,000 percent tip at a clam bar in Long Island.

"It's because it does make me feel great and I feel like I have no other choice," she previously told Howard Stern. "For me, when I was living in a studio in Astoria, if somebody left me $1,000, that would change my month."

Servers will readily admit that they appreciate a good tip, but here are 20 things your restaurant server won't tell you.
