"Certainly they have never had a reputation for being gourmets," remarks Phil Dampier in his book What’s in the Queen’s Handbag and Other Royal Secrets. For 26 years, Dampier has written countless stories for newspapers and magazines around the world. His first book, Duke of Hazard, The Wit and Wisdom of Prince Philip, a collection of 250 of the duke’s best gaffes, was a best-seller.

 

While the queen is one of the richest women in the world, her tastes are rather plain, according to Dampier. And he should know — his book reveals the secret lives of the royals and contains many hilarious stories about their personal habits, hobbies, and likes and dislikes.
