How To Fold A Burrito

Knowing how to fold a burrito is one of the most crucial steps in building your burrito at home.  Anyone who has experienced a burrito that was not folded properly understands this travesty. Filling spilling out and your tortilla in tatters ruins the burrito experience. To ensure this never happens to you when you make your favorite classic burrito recipes, we have broken this process down into three easy steps for perfectly rolled burritos every time.

Try these tips next time you crave a bean and cheese burrito or a classic chicken burrito with refried beans.

First, steam the tortilla in the microwave so that it is soft and pliable. To do this, wrap your tortillas in damp paper towels and heat on high for 10 to 20 seconds or until warm and soft.

Next, add the filling in one line, leaving at least a two-inch border of tortilla at the edges. Then, test to make sure you haven't added too much by grabbing both ends and picking up the tortilla. If your filling doesn't spill out, you are ready to roll.

Finally, to start rolling your burrito, fold over both the top and bottom ends of your burrito. Next, take the end closest to you and pull it away from you, wrapping the tortilla around the filling, and tuck it slightly under the filling. Then, with both hands, push the burrito away from your body in a rolling motion. Rest the burrito on the counter for a moment and tear off a piece of tin foil. Wrap the burrito in the tin foil and enjoy.
