Better Than Fireworks: 8 Sparkling Desserts You Can Make for the 4th
It’s impossible to imagine the Fourth of July without the fireworks — there is something truly exciting about those colorful, glittery lights in the sky. If you’re looking for a way to add more sparkle to your Independence Day bash, why not serve some shimmering, fireworks-inspired desserts?
You don’t even need a special recipe to make a fireworks-themed dessert for the Fourth of July — there are lots of ways to make your favorite recipes twinkle. Whether you frost your cupcakes with a Champagne buttercream and top them with edible gold stars or embellish your famous triple-berry pie with food-safe sparkler-style candles, you only need a handful of special supplies and ingredients to make a festive dessert.
Just be sure to always use edible sparkles and glitter (available at many baking supply stores) and food-safe sparkling candles (as opposed to regular sparklers). And use caution whenever you’re lighting candles — especially if there are children or pets nearby.
Need an idea to get you started? We’ve got eight great sparkling desserts you’ll want to try.
Champagne Ice Cream Floats
Combine your favorite fruit, some Champagne, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream in a glass and you’ve got sparkling ice cream floats! You can even garnish the rim of the glass with coarse sanding sugar for extra shimmer.
