The 10 Best Thanksgiving Leftover Sandwiches

The 11 Best Thanksgiving Leftover Sandwiches

This Thanksgiving, it is important to be thankful for what really matters: friends, family, home... and leftovers.

It is an undeniable fact of the universe that Thanksgiving leftovers are almost (if not more) enjoyable than the real meal itself. Reheated stuffing isn't much, but when placed in a delightfully chaotic bowl of gravy, turkey, and a swirl of tart cranberry, that stuffing becomes a valuable currency.

When preparing for Thanksgiving, it is important to make more food than necessary so you can have a leftovers feast (plus, running out of food during the meal is a mortal sin). In the end, there should be enough leftovers for at least two days' worth of breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The true expression of what Thanksgiving leftovers should be is, inarguably, the Thanksgiving leftover sandwich; all the fixings between two slices of good bread. It is what I, personally, look forward to most each year.

This year, as we rounded up the best Thanksgiving sandwiches from coast-to-coast, we looked to our Culinary Content Network of food bloggers for sandwich inspiration. They submitted their ultimate Thanksgiving sandwiches for your consideration; check them out here!

Grilled Holiday Sandwich

Baking in a Tornado thickly spreads some of her Thanksgiving cheeseball appetizer on a soft Italian loaf, then piles on roast turkey breast and fresh spinach before grilling it all in a hot pan. Delicious! Check it out here.

Kentucky Hot Brown for the Holidays

Make Our Daily Bread graces us with this helluva sandwich: It's meaty, saucy, cheesy, and, best of all, bacony. Check it out here.

Leftover Turkey Sliders

Foody Schmoody turns her leftovers into awesome little sliders. Using soft dinner rolls, she loads up on turkey, cranberry, stuffing, and gravy. For her recipe, click here.

Leftover Turkey Tartines

Mon Petit Four's turkey tartines are, as she writes, "a cross between a sandwich and a crostini, too open-faced to be a true sandwich and too many ingredients to be a simple crostini." Check them out here.

Thanksgiving Grilled Cheese on Pumpkinseed Bread

Make this awesome Thanksgiving leftover-inspired sandwich with Cabot Clothbound Cheddar, curry mayo, and leftover roast turkey and stuffing. For an added touch, pair this fancy grilled cheese with a lightly oaked chardonnay. Click here for the recipe.

Thanksgiving Hand Pies

Oat and Sesame wraps her leftovers in dough — which is almost like a sandwich, right? Here, she stuffs simple pie dough with all her Thanksgiving favorites. Check out her recipe here.

Turkey and Cranberry Mayo Roll-Ups

For something on the lighter side, Savory Experiments whips up from cranberry mayo and rolls it up in a tortilla with turkey and Swiss. For this recipe, click here.

Turkey Hummus Wrap

When the mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce run dry, the leftover turkey still endures. Platter Talk uses his surplus in a light and fresh hummus wrap. It's a great way to detox a little, too. For his recipe, click here.

Turkey Jalapeño Melt Panini

Add a spicy kick to your next a Thanksgiving-inspired panini. On bread, layer leftover turkey meat, a touch of spicy mustard, Monterey Jack cheese, and sliced pickled jalapeños. Cook until warm, crispy, and melty. For this recipe, click here.

The Stuffing Burger

The Master of Meat, Johnny Prime, makes stuffing patties, grills them up, and layers them with cheese, a slice of ham, and another slice of cheese. Then, to really top it all off, Prime adds an over-easy fried egg. Click here for his recipe.
